Robert Coate has primarily practiced workers compensation defense since he joined White and Steele in 1991. He has been lead counsel on thousands of cases for clients in that time frame. His work has been instrumental in getting cases resolved, whether it means going to hearing or gaining a case settlement or dismissal. He has also successfully appealed cases for clients before the Industrial Claims Appeals Office, Colorado Court of Appeals and Colorado Supreme Court.
Prior to coming to White and Steele, Mr. Coate was admitted to the Pennsylvania bar in 1986 and began serving as an Assistant Public Defender with the Chester County Public Defender’s Office in West Chester, Pennsylvania. He left Pennsylvania in 1989 to live and work on the Island of Yap in the Federated States of Micronesia, formerly part of the United States Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands. He served as Public Defender of Yap State for three years before returning to the United States.
Bob grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia. He remains an avid Phillies and Eagles fan - though that affinity is now split with Denver teams. He is a member of the Professionals in Workers’ Compensation and the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association.
