Karen Caston, Fritz Klann and Susan Portillos volunteered for White and Steele this month and were kept very busy working the marketplace! In less than three hours they had 25 shoppers and distributed over 2,200 pounds of food! Fritz worked the first dry goods section, Susan was a stager and Karen oversaw the refrigerated and bread section. Volunteers are always on hand while shoppers pick their groceries to answer questions and make suggestions while they shop.
“The biggest challenge is keeping the shelves stocked. It is a well -run operation. Nice new facility.” -Fritz Klann
“It was a very busy night in the Metro Caring marketplace that evening. I was assisting the shoppers in the last aisle and towards the end of the night I had as many as 4 families in that aisle at the same time. And pushing those 25 carts up onto the scale was no easy feat! Especially considering they contained 2200 pounds of food!” -Karen Caston
If you have not had a chance to come check out Metro Caring’s new facility, now is the perfect time! The last Tuesday of the month is always the busiest and Metro Caring can always use more volunteers. Come join White and Steele in August!
