Karen Caston, Louie Reininger, Susan Portillos, Jenny Buck and Rachel Ryckman joined Metro Caring on the busiest night we have seen yet! The Tuesday distribution night right before Thanksgiving was so busy, we hardly got any pictures! Metro Caring had hundreds of turkeys donated from different sources for those in need, and White and Steele’s volunteering group had their hands full handing them out. Every client got a turkey, not to mention several bags of produce and canned goods to help them make a great Thanksgiving feast!
“MetroCaring volunteering before the holidays was one of the busiest nights. It was a pleasure to shop fast order after order for the recipients and especially nice to be able to give each recipient a nice big turkey for their Thanksgiving! I believe they said they had about 700 turkeys donated and given away that week! I love being a part of this each month!” -Susan Portillos
“There was something really special about volunteering the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. The clients are always really grateful, but there was something more to it this time. These people weren’t sure they would be able to have a “real” Thanksgiving meal, a traditional one, because they couldn’t afford to buy the food they loved about the holiday. The look on their faces when they saw the turkeys was amazing. Talk about the true meaning of Thanksgiving!” -Jenny Buck
The holidays are some of Metro Caring’s busiest times. We hope to see you in 2015!
